DESCRIPTION:The doctoral workshop “Computerizing Handwritings: Current Ap
 proaches on Historical Documents” will take place in Basel on June 27. G
 athering specialists from Switzerland (four presentations from Basel Unive
 rsity\, two from Fribourg) and Europe (Germany\, Nederland and France)\, i
 t will offer the opportunity for ten doctoral students and researchers to 
 present their ongoing projects in the field of Historical Documents Analys
 is and exchange upon their approaches\, methodologies and expected output.
  In this time of Digital revolution\, where new algorithms and processes a
 ppear and develop extremely fast\, it is crucial to maintain regular excha
 nge between scholars with common research interest. Specifically focusing 
 on papyrology and ancient manuscript studies\, this workshop will promote 
 fruitful discussions between experts from Humanities and Computer Sciences
