CFP: Neo-Palaeography: Analysing Ancient Greek and Coptic Handwritings in the Digital Age, Basel 27-29/01/2020

The project d-scribes is pleased to inform you of its conference Neo-Palaeography: Analysing Ancient Greek and Coptic Handwritings in the Digital Age that will take place from the 27th to the 29th of January 2020 in Basel University. The goal of the conference is to gather Greek and Coptic papyrologists involved in palaeographic research (identification of hands, dating on palaeographical grounds, characterization of styles and scripts) together with Computer Scientists specialized in Historical Documents and Handwriting Analysis. Papyrologists are invited to present case-studies built on palaeographical criteria. Computer Scientists will present their work on Writer Identification and Script Classification. Colleagues using Archetype (archetype.ink) for Greek and Coptic are encouraged to apply.

 

Presentations will last 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes discussion. The proceedings of the conference will be open source published. Accommodation and travel are covered.

 

To apply, please send a title and abstract (300 words maximum) as well as a short CV (4 pages maximum) by November 4th, 2019 to i.marthot-santaniello@clutterunibas.ch. Notification of acceptation by November 12th.
